Introduction

Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT), was established in 1963. This prestigious institute is one of the premier technological institutes in the state of Karnataka, located in the town of Tumkur, Karnataka, India.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur was established in 1963 under Sree Siddaganga Education Society founded by His Holiness Dr. Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamigalu with the objective of providing technical education to rural students.  With more than five decades of illustrious existence, SIT has evolved into an institution of excellence with proven research credentials, industry partnerships and Government funded projects.  SIT has research expertise in the fields of Geotechnical, Structural & Hydraulics Engg., (Civil Engg. Dept.); Thin film sensors (Electronics & Instrumentation Engg. Dept.); Materials Technology & Thermal Engineering (Mechanical Dept.); Signal Processing, Image & Speech Processing (E&C and ISE Depts.); Cryptography and network security, Cloud computing, Wireless sensor networks (Computer Science Dept.); Image processing, chiral silicon carbide materials and microwave antennas (Telecommunication Engg. Dept); Nano materials (Electrical & Electronics Engg. Dept. Chemistry and Physics Depts.); Lean Six Sigma and Supply Chain Management (IEM; Bioinformatics (Biotechnology Dept.); Biofuel, batteries and peptides (Chemistry); Graph theory and fluid dynamics (Mathematics); Spectroscopy (Physics); Agri commodity markets, banking (MBA); Biometrics, soft computing applications, location based services (MCA).

The good research pursued and projects carried out by the faculty and students has resulted in filing 60 patents (59 Indian and one USA) and granting of one USA patent and publications in peer reviewed Scopus (694: citation: 2324; h-index: 22) and Web of Science Journals (432; Citation: 1174; h-index : 16).

In the strategic plan and Road Map 2022 of S.I.T., it is proposed to establish a Centre for rural development to provide solutions to societal issues.

SIT has taken up the design and fabrication of nano-satellite with participation of students and faculty members.

SIT has a 33,000 strong network of alumni spread over in 24 countries.

• It is one among the 130+ educational institutions run by the Sri Siddaganga Educational Society. It became an autonomous institution under Visveswaraiah Technological University in 2007-08 with the last VTU batch graduating in 2010.
• The Institute is one of the 14 Engineering Colleges under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) a World Bank Project, administered by the Government of Karnataka in the state and is granted Academic Autonomy from the Year 2007-08.
• The Institute is spread over 65 Acres with greenery all over, and has a sprawling playground for indoor and outdoor games like, Football, Hockey, Cricket and Basketball.

Highlights 

Siddaganga Institute of Technology, popularly known as SIT, was established in 1963 under Sree Siddaganga Education Society and is located in Tumkur, Karnataka. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and accredited by the NAAC with “A” grade and most of the UG programmes have been accredited by the NBA. It offers 12 undergraduate,13 postgraduate and 16 PhD programmes.
The institute is consistently ranked among the top 100 Engineering institutes in India in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), MHRD, Govt. of India. It is also placed in the Gold Category in AICTE-CII Survey of Industry Linked Technical Institutes for four consecutive years.
The campus is spread over 50 acre of high-speed Wi-Fi enabled area with greenery all over, and has a sprawling playground for indoor and outdoor games.

Admission Process

Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) offered undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. level programs in various disciplines of Engineering and Science. The institute offers 12 UG programs with a total intake of 950 students and 16 PG programs with a total intake of 432 students.

• Candidates can apply through KEA website for UG and PG programs.
• Ph.D. candidates can apply through institute admission process.
• M.Tech candidates can apply through GATE score. Such candidates do not require to appear for Karnataka PGCET exam.
• B.E. candidates must compulsorily appear for KCET exam.
• B.E. candidates should have passed 10+2 with 45% aggregate.
• M. Tech candidates must score at least 50% marks in graduation (B.E. / B. Tech / M.Sc.)
• MBA and MCA candidates must clear graduation with 45% minimum marks and must qualify their respective PGCET.
• Ph.D. candidates must pass their respective last qualifying exam.
• B.E. candidates are selected on the basis of KCET score.
• M. Tech, MBA and MCA candidates are selected on the basis of KPGCET score.
• M. Tech candidates are also selected on the basis of GATE score.
• Architecture candidates must take the NATA test.
• Ph.D. candidates are selected on the basis of marks obtained in the last qualifying exam.

Admission 2023

Siddaganga Institute of Technology uses state-of-the-art technologies and helps them imbibe professional ethics and societal commitment so that they emerge as competent professionals to meet global challenges. Siddaganga Institute of Technology admission 2023 offers full-time degrees at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the disciplines of Engineering and Architecture and has an intake of about 1000 students per year across all disciplines. The placement cell is visited by various leading companies like Microsoft, Tata Consultancy Services, Oracle, IBM, Accenture, Siemens, and many more. 

UG Admission 2023

Siddaganga Institute of Technology offers multiple 4-year undergraduate courses in engineering, technology, and a 5-year degree in architecture. 

UG Admission: Course, Eligibility, Admission Details

Admission to the undergraduate programs is made based on the merit rank obtained by the qualified student in the entrance test conducted by the Karnataka State Government (KCET) or COMEDK. The minimum qualification for applying is to have a 50% aggregate in the 12th standard. The reservations are made as follows. 

1. KCET- 45% of the total seats.
2. COMEDK- 30% of the total seats.
3. Management Quota- 25% of the total seats.

PG Admission 2023

Siddaganga Institute of Technology offers multiple 2-year postgraduate courses in the areas of engineering, technology, business administration, and computer applications. 

PG Admission: Course, Eligibility, Admission Details

Admission to the PG courses is made based on the merit obtained in the entrance test conducted by the Karnataka State Government for postgraduate programs (PGCET). The minimum qualification for applying is to have at least 50% aggregate in their bachelor’s degree. Preference is given to students having GATE qualification. 

PG Diploma Admission 2023

Siddaganga Institute of Technology also offers a postgraduate diploma in Biotechnology. It offers additional knowledge in the undergraduate degree and is similar to a postgraduate degree, but without the dissertation.

Admission to the postgraduate diploma course is based on performance in their undergraduate course. 

Application Form 2023

Eligible candidates can apply for various programmes offered under SIT admission. The admission fee for various programmes will be based on SIT fee structure. The steps and instructions are as follows.

• Applicants must give the KCET or COMEDK. 
• The printed application form along with rank card is to be submitted at SIT. 
• Applicants must submit a recent passport-sized photograph, receipt of fees paid as well as all necessary documents.

Placements

College has a Department for Training and Placement which focuses on each student with objective to place them in good companies. The department contacts various industries and invites them for campus recruitments every year.
Companies like Amazon, Akamai, TCS, WIPRO, Mind Tree, L&T, Aricent, Ernst and Young, Oracle and Brahmos and others visit the college for campus placements. For the 2020 batch, over 115 companies visited the campus placing more than 761 offers recording highest package of Rs 29 LPA.
The college also provides different training programmes on aptitude related analytical skills, communicative English, soft skills and advance technical training at Industrial Competency Lab.

Training and Placement Cell

SIT Tumkur Training and Placement Department with a senior professor, experienced in the industry, as its head. Placement cell conducts for the students to face the challenges of the selection process by conducting periodic general aptitude tests, technical aptitude tests, group discussions, mock interviews, etc., and making them generally aware of the industrial scenario, their role as engineers, etc. Effectively carrying out institute-industry-interaction in terms of mutual contacts, exchange of information & ideas, arranging visits and technical talks from industry experts, etc.

Arranging vocational training for students in suitable industries depending on their aptitudes and skills. Assisting the SIT Tumkur departments in arranging project works for students in reputed industries so that the students get hands-on experience in solving industrial problems.

Scholarships:-

Sri Sripathi K.A. Memorial Scholarship:

• The student should have secured his/her admission through CET placement only.
• The student should demonstrate good academic standing.
• The student should demonstrate the financial need with all sources of income of the student and his/her family not to exceed INR 3.00 lakh per annum.
• Student's immediate family member including his/her brother/sister should not be Government employee/employee of any industry/ company/organization.
• The student should maintain good disciplinary standing with the administration/faculty and staff members of S.I.T.
• For first semester students, the criteria for selection will be based on the marks scored in the Pre-University Examination.

Dr. M.N. Channabasappa Endowment Fund Loan Scholarship:

• Award of loan scholarship is purely based on merit.
• Students who are financially weak are provided the Scholarship
• Students who are getting financial assistance more than 30% of the total fee from any source are not eligible for the award of loan scholarship.
• From the top 10 students, only one with the best performance in an interview would get a scholarship.
